When I was about two years old, I was obsessed with the garbage collectors on our suburban streets as they clung to their behemoth of a truck. I followed them down the street, carrying wastebaskets on my shoulder. I had one singular vision for my future, which for a toddler, is blissfully indistinguishable from the present. I was a garbage man. Instead, my career took a path towards commercial imaging in the field of marketing and advertising. I think I came pretty darn close to hitting the mark. I am still a “garbage man.”
This truck was my favorite toy in 1961. 50 years later, it is still in faithful service to the dreams and imaginations of those who dare to be children.
